Why is one an idiot or uneducated who does not go along with those who believe in evolution?

I saw a guy one time who rejected evolution, not on a theological basis, but on a mathematical one. I didn't pay enough attention to get the gist of his point, but the fact that he was thinking it through was a good sign. I think a person is brave for speaking their mind against something that most people follow, even if it turns out they are wrong in the end.
