Why do so many liberals support Sir Charles Darwin?

I think you need to decide whether you want to discuss the man himself OR his ideas that have stood the test of time and scientific inquiry (which have led to the modern theory of evolution). These are two different things, albeit both are fascinating subjects. Darwin the man was a product of this times as we all are.
