My husband physically and verbally abused me while i was pregnant but how can i prove that ?

At times i had to defend myself by fighting him off of me. I called the police on him once but decided not to file which was my fault. But now our child is here and its worse with the verbal abuse and i dont think my child should be exposed to him what can i do in court
